Hey everyone! My boyfriend and I have just started selling things on ebay. We haven't got a whole lot on there yet, due to us being beginners at this, however I just thought i'd ask you all to look at what we are selling. We've got clothes and a discontinued motorola cell phone up right now, we will be putting up vintage/collector's cameras, hats, bags, jewelry, jackets, pants, shirts, shoes, belt buckles, amongst many other things. Please take the time to look and perhaps bid, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Once more with feeling, kids. We've moved to inabigway and even though I've mentioned this several times, we still have people posting here. I've been meaning to delete this thing for a while and that's going to end up happening within the next few days because it's starting to get confusing for people I think. Update your membership or whatever.

Okay listen up you bastards.

We've moved over to inabigway and we only have eight members right now. This is sickening. Our community kicks ASS and you all know it. Pimp us out, for the love of god. Get us some interest. And then post your asses off because I know you people are listening to good music and when you do that and don't share you're commiting a mortal sin against the music world. Jerks.

Once more, with feeling, you can post:

- about new or underappreciated bands (include links to audio, official site and tour dates if applicable; be sure to state where the band is from, if they have a CD out, what kind of music it is, etc)
- concert reviews
- cd reviews
- band follow-ups
- if you're in a band and are well known enough to have done an interview, you can post that, too

Maintainer Post V. 6.86590869024572662 squared [15 Nov 2003|07:00pm]

Okay kids, here's the deal:

We've moved to inabigway. Don't ask why. Actually, you can ask why all you want to, but my answer will be this: I am insane. No other excuses necessary.

You can't update the community with the backdate feature on, so I don't think it's a good idea to start re-posting all at once. Take it slow, but put those posts back in. I don't want to flood anyone's friends pages but I don't want to lose the information, either.

Sorry for the big fat inconvenience, but it had to be done. It's still the same community we have all come to know and love, just with a different name.

Dexter Danger [15 Nov 2003|02:57pm]

Heard of them? What do you think? Haven't heard them yet, but Brian's (bass) sister says that they suck... just a bitter little sister's bias? I'm curious, since she says that their main audience is 12 yo teeny girls... dexterdanger.com

Never licked a spark plug [14 Nov 2003|10:11pm]

Hi, I'm neither new nor old here, but it's my first post here anyhow. So hi. I will be plugging my favorite band, Relient K. I'm not sure if anyone has, but they're not on the info page, so why not? They're a Christian punk band from Ohio (but they don't shove it all down your throat) and they're really, really, ridiculously funny. Plus, they're a fine-lookin' group of guys, if you ask me ~_^ I'm pretty sure they're still on tour; they go back home sometime this month, but I'm not exactly sure, as I saw them last month. Tour dates, media, and things of that sort are at their site. Just click on the name. I'm afraid that they don't get what they deserve. They're pretty big in the secular market, but good sites and devoted fans are far and few (many of the fans I know are my converts =c)). relientk is full of screaming fangirls, but it is the most lively out of the three Relient K communites.

LAO [23 Oct 2003|12:41am]

“I always see beauty in everything,” guitarist Brian Lerner quoted, looking up from a cracked mug that an amateur observer would be hard-pressed to call beautiful. “[We’re] still alive…still breathing. That’s inspiration.”

Since up-and-coming punk band LAO’s current lineup took shape nine months ago, founding members Lerner and bassist Adam Paul, along with singer Blake Kasemeier and drummer Philip Lee, have dedicated
themselves to a vision of musical _expression that promises to leave even the most stoic listener’s mind unfettered and body thrashing.

“But really, we’re not in a band to please people,” asserted Lerner. “This is our art. We write what we love.” The product: aggressive rock that bridges genres from the soul-baring musings of Kurt Cobain to the relentless rock sound of Thrice. And while finding a following isn’t the band’s sole purpose, others visibly enjoy their music as well. “I have a hard time believing it when kids at our shows are singing along…or someone walks up and tells [us] they love our music,” Lerner continued. “But they know what we’re saying. It means a lot to us.”

And why shouldn’t listeners love it? LAO’s constantly evolving sound sets heart-wrenching vocals on a backdrop of abrasive instrumentals, showcasing unabated passion, and belief in their sound as well as their message. Unmistakable in every action, from persistence in production of their upcoming EP, Lacerate these Hearts, to unique onstage chemistry, a common fervor, above all else, sets LAO apart from the masses. On this chemistry, Kasemeier added, “We’re all on that same page, aesthetically…emotionally… in our lyrics [and] in our attitude.”

The haunting song, “My Sisyphus,” off of Lacerate these Hearts, is a perfect illustration, as unity and passion come full circle. “It’s about Blake’s grandfather [a victim of dementia resulting from Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome],” Lerner explained. “Before he died, he thought he was a teenager. But he was happy…isn’t that what it’s all about?” And only a delivery like LAO’s could power their forceful message. Building on the solid foundations of Paul’s bass, the vigor of Lee’s drumming and Lerner’s growling guitar, Kasemeier’s gasping staccato lifts the lyrics, and the song takes flight. “Dad, when I die,” wails Kasemeier, “I want to be seventeen.”

LAO is currently looking forward to touring and the release of Lacerate these Hearts. “We see the heart as a symbol of self…a symbol of life,” said Lerner. While their work is open to interpretation, Lacerate these Hearts represents, to its creators,
continued hope and belief in the innate beauty of life.

“It’s our true hope that we can work together to achieve our dreams,” concluded Lerner. “Otherwise, what the hell are we doing?”

I don't know [16 Oct 2003|12:49am]

[ mood | bitchy ]

I was looking over the community stuff, and it just seems like people are posting about bands and there's nothing after that. If you guys are visiting the web pages and checking out the bands, why not comment to the person who posted?

Let's set up a rating system:

1-Did you even listen to this shit before you posted?

2-Thanks for wasting my time. Five minutes I'll never get back.

3-Eh, I could live without it.

4-Wow, it's cool that you had the balls to post about these guys.

5-This is fucking great! You are a genius for posting!

Yeah. Use the number system and let kids know, mmk?

Glad to see all the updating and what not.

Adding to Aja's pimp:

And Nothing is #1 is one of the more understated albums of 2002. For being such a great album, coupled with the fact that it’s a debut, I was surprised not to see more press coverage. While it shouldn’t surprise me, since I myself sat on it for a few months, I still feel as strongly today as I did after my first listen.

Up Up Down Down… blend elements of harder emo such as Hot Water Music and Small Brown Bike with the indolence of bands like Hum. If one thing stands out right away, it’s that these guys can sing. The vocals are shared; one effortlessly hits all the right notes while the other occasionally yells with great intensity. The next realization is that these guys can play. Acoustic guitar, occasional piano and strings mesh well with the powerful drums and distorted guitars; time changes and complex rhythms are commonplace.

It’s difficult to pin their sound because they blend so many styles. Elements of punk, metal, emo, shoegazer and math are combined with stellar results, and nothing sounds out of place. They are excellent musicians but their modesty is just cool. And Nothing is #1 is the result of four years of hard work by four guys who sound as if they were born to play music together, and it is definitely worth seeking out.
